Colorado’s State-level Sustainability Funding Sources & How to Search in Your State
Despite the uncertain federal landscape, many states still offer incentives that prioritize sustainability and energy efficiency upgrades. Here are a few methods one can use to search for what is available in their respective state:
Start with Your State’s Energy Office - Every state has an official energy or environmental agency that runs rebates, grants, loan programs, etc.
Search: [State Name] Energy Office + Commercial Incentive
Check Your Local Utility Provider - Reducing energy use is a win/win for both consumer & the utility
Search: [Your Utility] + Commercial Rebates
Use DSIRE to See Every Incentive in Your State - this is the most comprehensive database of sustainability incentives in the U.S.
Search: [State name] + DSIRE
Explore Incentives Outside Sustainability - States may offer incentives for rehabilitating historic buildings or preserving cultural districts. These types of improvements often lead to more efficient energy use and, in turn, more sustainable operations.
